splitsville: the new trend?

another hollywood break up alert!

ryan reynolds and scarlett johansson just called it quits. whhyyy??? i don't really like the girl but they'd sure have cute babies ONLY had they stayed together. they were only married for two years!

Scarlett Johansson & Ryan Reynolds Split Up

yesterday, it was zac and vanessa. today, it's ryan and scarlett. who's next?

arrghh! i also have friends who just broke up with their partners (some... at the brink of). is love just too easy to ditch now?! is heading to splitsville the new trend?! if it is, i'd rather be on the "baduy" end!

sad!

rhum cokes on me?!

everyone's rejoicing... well, the girls are (especially in JWT Manila) when it was announced that zac efron is now SINGLE!

quoting www.eonline.com:

"It's nothing dramatic," one source said. "There's no third party involved."
Says another source, "They were together for so long. It just ran its course."

i am not a hard core fan but i do find him HOT! so, should we start partying? rhum cokes on me :)

vogue italia on my shoulder

i am a sucker for bags.

branded or not -

as long as they exude oomph and style.

last sunday, i found this pretty tarp bag with a vogue italia print in a bazaar and bought it without blinking.

for more flair, i added a leopard print scarf i got from taipei.

:)

sleep deprived

today, i woke up at three in the morning for reasons i couldn't fathom. i tried mighty hard to go back to sleep but my mind wouldn't cooperate. all i could ever think of was work.

my mind was furiously doing mental notes on the things that need to be done. what's worse, the sound of the clock ticking made my heart race faster.

crap!

i didn't take any meds for my cough and colds the night before but it felt like i was high on drugs!

this is insane.

working on a saturday or a sunday (or checking emails to say the least) may sound unfair BUT for work to invade your sleep and deprive you of your remaining hours of rest before you get to the "battlefield" is TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE!

i feel tired and sleepy! i miss my pillows and my bed. i wish i could just stay home and doze off.

my colds and cough won't go away. maybe, just maybe if i could only rest enough, i'd be fine again.

*sad face*

technology is moving faster than speed of light.

the many "i"s are sprouting like mushrooms - ipod, itouch, iphone, ipad... now there's a table connect for iphone which people will surely call an itable.

what's next?

what was your halloween costume?

every halloween, anyone can just be anyone or anything. princes and princesses, movie and cartoon characters, angels more so evils are already predictable and actually expected of. this bores me!

there were two people though (who incidentally have the same names  only that they have an almost 3 decade age gap) who convinced me that halloween is STILL FUN and unpredictable!

enzo cruz, 28, copy writer from JWT Manila

i laughed my heart out when i saw this. THIS. IS.  NUTS! what's crazier?! one of the kids approached him and said "mr. squid, spit on me! spit on me!" dear lord, forgive the child's innocence.

this kid on the other hand, made me melt! he is such a sweetheart and will be a future heartbreaker for sure! :)

enzo cruz, 1 yr old, baby of one of our art directors in JWT Manila

i'd say, i enjoyed this year's halloween than last year's.  hope you had fun too! by the way, what was your halloween costume? :)

more reasons to cheat...

...not on the boyfie BUT on my diet. acck!

what's not to love about makati's "manhattan" park?! it's just across JWT (equitable bldg, paseo where our office is) and has an array of lovely and carb worthy restaurants to go to.

this is major temptation! (drool face)

must watch my waistline more closely!

sizzling serena/beautiful blake

i may be way, way behind the gossip girl episodes but that doesn't stop me from liking blake lively aka serena vanderwoodsen. she may sound like she's slurring when talking or  pout without meaning to do it all the time but i find her perfect complexion, golden hair, slender frame & her fashion sense fierce! no wonder she's a vogue favorite.

backlog to the hilt

after the glorious 6-day trip in taipei, i dove back to reality -- of a work-life imbalance. hundreds of emails to read, tons of JOs to do, meetings to attend to, reimbursements to file, calls (and texts) to make not to mention the gazillion competitive analyses we have to accomplish. and oh, the work "thing" that seems to make us all emo.

my "other life" takes the back seat again. the "other life" meaning the fashion/wardrobe styling i've been doing on the side, the accessories business i have been trying hard to sustain, the gatherings i've been skipping unintentionally,  the tons of photos i've meaning to save, edit and upload, the articles/topics i have long been wanting to blog about, the boyfriend's birthday gift i should've bought eons ago, and the endless list just goes on...

24 hours in a day is not enough and it doesn't help that each second goes oh sooooo zippy. it feels like you're running on a treadmill...you've been running for so long but you're still going nowhere.

the fuse is getting shorter by the day. the feeling of frustration, desperation and exasperation seems to resurface.

i am a disaster waiting to happen. :(

anti-obesity, anti-mcdo

a recently launched campaign accused mcdonald's for killing people with its food by causing heart disease. the commercial ends with a mcdonald's logo and the tagline pun "I was loving' it."

it was an ad made and released by a non-profit organization called physicians committee for responsible medicine. i just wonder how mcdo responded to this?! watch the vid below and you might just forget about having your daily mcdo fix! read here to know more!

print pants: fierce or pathetic?

print pants are fierce but you have to have that "oomph" vibe in you to be able to wear and strut them. else, you'll be like a walking wall paper (hence, a fashion victim!)

here's the tip: don't overdo it. pair them with a plain top and complete the look with a pair of cute flats or fabulous pumps.

    tag me no more

since november 2006 , i have been receiving updates via my gmail on who has been viewing my profile, who has "bought" me or who has been sending me messages but i never attempted to check it until today and i was surprised to see how blonde i was four years ago. acck!

today, after almost four years of being inactive in tagged social network, i am canceling my account. i never really used it anyways. i just accepted my friend's invite to join thinking it was as fun as the then "it" network, friendster.

i am afraid of identity theft and i don't want to manage too many social network accounts more than i can really handle. now i've got one less network/site to be active in. i am happy to just manage facebook, twitter, multiply and blogspot. phew!

    why we love men

a good read from paulo coelho's blog and i've highlighted my faves in purple. what's yours?

We love men because they can never fake orgasms, even if they wanted to.

Because they write poems, songs, and books in our honor.

Because they never understand us but they never give up.

Because they can see beauty in women when women have long ceased to see any beauty in themselves.

Because they come from little boys.

Because they can churn out long, intricate, Machiavellian, or incredibly complex mathematics and physics equations, but they can be comparably clueless when it comes to women.

Because they are incredible lovers and never rest until we’re happy.

Because they elevate sports to religion.

Because they’re never afraid of the dark.

Because they don’t care how they look or if they age.

Because they persevere in making and repairing things beyond their abilities, with the naïve self-assurance of the teenage boy who knew everything.

Because they never wear or dream of wearing high heels.

Because they’re always ready for sex.

Because they’re like pomegranates: lots of inedible parts, but the juicy seeds are incredibly tasty and succulent and usually exceed your expectations.

Because they’re afraid to go bald.

Because you always know what they think and they always mean what they say.

Because they love machines, tools, and implements with the same ferocity women love jewelry.

Because they go to great lengths to hide, unsuccessfully, that they are frail and human.

Because they either speak too much or not at all to that end.

Because they always finish the food on their plate.

Because they are brave in front of insects and mice.

Because a well-spoken four-year old girl can reduce them to silence, and a beautiful 25-year old can reduce them to slobbering idiots.

Because they want to be either omnivorous or ascetic, warriors or lovers, artists or generals, but nothing in-between.

Because for them there’s no such thing as too much adrenaline.

Because when all is said and done, they can’t live without us, no matter how hard they try.

Because they’re truly as simple as they claim to be.

Because they love extremes and when they go to extremes, we’re there to catch them.

Because they are tender they when they cry, and how seldom they do it.

Because what they lack in talk, they tend to make up for in action.

Because they make excellent companions when driving through rough neighborhoods or walking past dark alleys.

Because they really love their moms, and they remind us of our dads.

Because they never care what their horoscope, their mother-in-law, nor the neighbors say.

Because they don’t lie about their age, their weight, or their clothing size.

Because they have an uncanny ability to look deeply into our eyes and connect with our heart, even when we don’t want them to.

Because when we say “I love you” they ask for an explanation.

    SUPERHERO shoes by SUPERGA

the other day, an fb friend/former client posted a photo of superga's limited edition "superheroes" rubbershoes in facebook. that same day after our event in eastwood, i went to superga to check them out myself.

they're beyond cute and what's more?! they're affordable too (a pair is just P2,5++)! how cool is that?! :)

    pampering fit for royalty

i can splurge on clothes, shoes and bags in an impulse but when it comes to pampering myself - going to the spa, having a massage or doing my nails,  i make sure i go the best ones. for me, every penny should be worth it especially that most of the people consider this as a luxury. but when a very good friend  told me that the nail spa lounge by ellabell in megamall will be worth my time and effort, i decided to go last saturday.

i left makati an hour before my 3pm appointment to be sure that i will arrive on time. i didn't want to look harassed when i reach my destination and i didn't want to miss it since i was already forewarned that weekends are usually packed. lo and behold, when i arrived at exactly 3 o'clock, i came to see a pretty moulin rouge inspired nail spa lounge :)

(i love the black/zebra print love seat. too bad i didn't get to take a pic of it upclose)

(the waiting area - you choose your nail polish while you wait)

(this is the area where they do the quick nail polish changes)

i was warmly welcomed by the pretty owner and manager of the spa, shiela marie chua. i am telling you she's a darling! despite the heavy stream of clients going in and out of the spa, she made sure ingrid (the cute 3yr old kid who has happily drawing sun, flowers and a girl using shiela's colored pens and scratch papers while waiting for her mom) and i were comfortable.

after a quick chit chat with shiela and playing with ingrid, i was asked to enter the "lounge" and this huge and comfy couch was waiting for me. sheila recommended that i try the "royalty foot spa pedicure" and i did!

(they have a built-in sink on the floor)

i then soaked my feet on the warm soapy water and they started to feel relaxed after a couple of seconds.

a few minutes after, michelle reached for my foot and started filing it! i had to muster courage not pull my leg from her or kick her. it was just ticklish! :)

(michelle got too shy. she didn't want me to take a pic of her)

( michelle is now preparing to exfoliate my legs.
P.S. ignore the bruise on my right leg. i bumped into a table the night before :) )

janet (face not seen) on the other hand started scrubbing my arms with an exfoliating scrub. afterwhich, she put on a mask on both of my arms.

i was told that the paraffin therapy will help absorb the excess water and "lamig" inside your arms and legs so i gave in to it.

(after applying the paraffin wax, my arms were wrapped to seal the warmth in)

(the glove looked like an oversized baby mitten)
(before this, my legs were wrapped and had booties too)

after the exfoliation, masking, paraffin therapy and massaging came the cleaning, trimming and polishing of the the nails.

among the wide array of colors and brands (opi, china glaze, essie...etc.) i got the essie morticia's nails in blood curdling red color.

(a tip i learned from them:
don't cut your toe nails on the side
coz it'll make the nails shorter and harder to grow
    - a common mistake of the manicuristas in small parlors)

if you wish for more artsy nails, they also do nail art and here are some of my favorite designs:

since i had to wait for a couple of minutes more to dry off my nail polish, sheila and i chatted about the spa and her future plans. she told me that they'll be opening two more branches - one in robinson's place manila in september and in greenhills near conti's by october so better watch out for that.

anyways, i know this is getting lengthy already (but i just can't help go into details) and so i say that the nail spa lounge by ellabell is worth your every penny, your time and effort. their royalty foot spa pedicure is so wonderful you would want to spend the rest of your day there. the people are nice and very efficient and the owner is such a sweetheart.

whenever you feel like spoiling or rewarding your self after a week of hard work, better visit this place and you'll surely feel like a royalty!

(now at EMT's booth with my pretty nails)

the nail spa lounge is located at the 5th floor of the atrium in megamall
    they're open everyday (mall hours)
for inquiries and reservations - you may call 470-3790
